Successful Color Burst Class Update!

We had 8 students attend this recent Color Burst Creations Pop-Up class at my Home Studio! You can’t beat using a blow-torch to do these color fusions! There are always such exciting original results after this class! The pieces are so unique and rich and intense, almost looking three dimensional…

Nov 8, 2014 – The Museum School of Avondale Art Auction

For the third consecutive year, Penny Treese visited the kindergarten classrooms of the Museum School of Avondale Estates to guide the students in creating unique artwork for a collaborative collage painting to be auctioned at the school’s event, The Grand Art Project, November 8th, 2014, sponsored by the Avondale Arts Alliance.

Penny brought in over 100 butterflies cut from vintage wallpaper and provided beads, buttons, sheet music and stars to create mystical butterfly assemblages. The unique creations were taken back to her studio and incorporated into a 60 x 40” encaustic painting with one of her well-known, ethereal skyscapes as a background. Using the encaustic method of pigmenting molten beeswax, painting over the collage items in layers, then fusing with a heat gun, she allows the butterflies to emerge from the translucent sky and fly towards the heavens.

This one of a kind painting will be part of the Grand Art Project Auction and available for purchase.

Penny brought in over 60 birds cut out from vintage wallpapers and scrap card stock.  Students were given feathers, buttons, oil pastels, origami paper, seed beads and torn sheet music to creaste embellished collage.  Treese then took the birds back to her studio and secured them onto a large wood panel with one of her ethereals, lanscapes as a background.  She then layered the bird collages using molten unbleached beeswax and lustrous pigment to create an original work of art.
