 w/Advanced Encaustic Painting Techniques

Unique sessions of synergetic learning are open to anyone interested in invigorating two and a half day workshops where you’ll gather a plethora of photographic and painting skills from two masters in their trades. Learn to photograph and “see the light” with your own camera or iPhone and apply filters/Apps to create visual textures from Judy Host.

Students images created on Day 1 (or brought from home) will be professionally printed on encaustic-friendly paper.  Penny instructs adhering prints to large panels and application of intermediate and advanced encaustic techniques, such as pouring, etching, applying gold leaf, creating texture, pigmenting and using alcohol inks to enhance your photographic concept.

Skill level: Intermediate to Advanced (& beginners with at least one encaustic lesson)

Summer Studio Sessions in Penny’s Decatur Studio – 7/13, 7/18, 7/25

• Sit back, observe and ask questions as Penny creates large format abstracts and photo-encaustic pieces and outlines her personal techniques on specific methods.

• Studio set-up & safety – first hand

• In group setting, (which helps each guest learn synergistically,) receive guidance about your work in progress or plans.

• Contact Penny beforehand to request instruction on a specific skill. Then practice your technique as a group. Limited techniques per session, so get your request in first!

Fee: $85 via Venmo, Paypal or check

Sessions will run with a minimum of 5 students, maximum of 8.

Confirmation of attendance & request for specific instruction required 5 days previous to session.
